Goodreads 2018 Reading Challenge – Part Two

Goodreads 2018 Reading Challenge - The Haunted Pen

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m taking part in the “Goodreads Reading Challenge.” This is where a reader can select a target number of books he or she wants to read throughout the year and continually log their progress as more books are read. This link to the Goodreads site will tell you more so you can join the fun.

If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.” – Oscar Wilde

My target for the year is 40 books, and from January 1st to July 31st, I’ve read 34 and have two more in progress. I’m surprised at the number being so high as I spent some time away from reading to concentrate on writing several anthology submissions (two of which have been accepted for publication, yay me!).

My to-be-read list grows constantly and includes such luminaries as Jonathan Maberry, Riley Sager, Paul Tremblay, Hank Phillippi Ryan, Stephen King, and A.J. Finn.

Here’s my list of books read from April 30th to July 31st (in order of date completed):

  • The Nightmare Room (The Messy Man #1) by Chris Sorensen
  • If I Die Tonight by Alison Gaylin
  • Demon King by Eric Vick
  • The Corona Book of Horror Stories edited by Lewis Williams
  • Words with Fiends by Matt Schiariti
  • Blood Magic by Domino Finn
  • The Games Monsters Play by Roh Morgan
  • Crypt by Darcy Coates
  • The Seduction by Roh Morgan
  • The Midnight Line (Jack Reacher, #22) by Lee Child
  • The Monster’s Growl by Roh Morgan
  • Manifest Recall by Alan Baxter
  • 100 Word Horrors: An Anthology of Horror Drabbles by Kevin J. Kennedy
